Robonet Communications Inc. ("we," "us," or "our") respects the privacy of users of our smartphone application "Garden Notebook" (畑ノート in Japanese; named 家庭菜園ノート on the App Store before 1.0.2; the "App") and handles personal information in accordance with Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI) and other applicable laws, as set out in this Privacy Policy (this "Policy").
The App collects the following information.
We use this data solely to provide the App's core functionality (recording and managing your home garden). We do not provide the content of your records itself to third parties for advertising or other purposes.
The App uses Google AdMob to display advertising. AdMob may collect advertising identifiers (IDFA/GAID), approximate location, and device information to serve and optimize ads. For details on the information collected, see Google's Privacy Policy.
On iOS, in accordance with App Tracking Transparency (ATT), you will be asked to grant tracking permission, such as on first launch. Ads will still be shown if you decline, but may be less relevant.
For users in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland, we present Google's consent management form before any ads are shown, and personalize ads only in line with the choice given. Consent settings can be changed at any time from the Settings screen.
The ad-free monthly subscription is provided through the App Store (Apple) or Google Play (Google) payment systems, and subscription status is managed using RevenueCat's service. Payment details such as credit card numbers are handled directly by Apple/Google; neither we nor RevenueCat hold this information. RevenueCat receives information such as a user ID to the extent necessary to manage anonymized subscription status.
Usage information about the App (such as crash information and communication logs) may be temporarily recorded in our hosting provider's (Render.com) infrastructure logs to the extent necessary for server operations.
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
If we change the purposes of use, we will notify or announce this to users beforehand, through posting within the App or another appropriate method.
We may outsource the handling of personal data, in whole or in part, to external service providers to the extent necessary to achieve the purposes described in Section 3. We only allow our providers to handle information within the scope of the purpose entrusted to them, and we exercise appropriate oversight.
| Service | Purpose | Scope of entrusted information | Country |
|---|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Authentication and database | Email addresses, all record data | United States |
| Render.com | Server hosting | Communication logs, etc. | United States |
| RevenueCat | Subscription management | User ID, subscription status | United States |
Google AdMob uses information (advertising identifiers, device information, etc.) not only under our instruction, but also for its own purposes, such as ad delivery, fraud prevention, and improving its own services. In this respect, providing information to AdMob may constitute "third-party disclosure" under the APPI, rather than "outsourcing," which is limited to processing under our instructions.
Users can manage their choices regarding ad personalization from their device settings (the "Tracking" permission on iOS, "Ads" settings on Android).
All of the outsourcing recipients and disclosure recipients described in Sections 4.1 and 4.2 are located outside Japan (primarily in the United States). In accordance with the APPI's rules on providing personal information to third parties located in foreign countries, we confirm that our providers and recipients maintain appropriate personal information protection systems before entrusting them with information. You can review each company's privacy framework at the following links:
Except in the following cases, we do not disclose collected personal information to third parties:
We do not sell personal data to third parties in exchange for money or other consideration.
We take necessary and appropriate measures, including the following, to prevent leakage, loss, or damage of the personal information we handle and otherwise ensure its security:
Users may permanently delete their account and record data at any time using the "Delete Account" feature in the App's Settings screen. Deleted data cannot be restored. Unless an account is deleted, data is retained for the duration the App is provided.
Under the APPI, users may request that we notify them of the purpose of use, disclose, correct/add to/delete, or stop using or erasing their retained personal data, and may request that we stop providing it to third parties. To make such a request, please contact us using the contact details in Section 1 above. After verifying your identity through our designated procedure, we will respond without undue delay in accordance with applicable law. If we are not legally obligated to disclose or take the requested action, we will notify you of that fact.
The App is intended for users aged 13 and over. We do not impose an age restriction on use, but the App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
The App never asks users for their date of birth or any other age information.
If we learn that a child under 13 has created an account without their parent's or guardian's consent, we will delete that account and its data promptly. Parents and guardians who believe this may have happened can contact us using the details in Section 1, or delete the account themselves using the "Delete Account" feature in Settings.
Note that the App's core features (records, garden layout, vegetable catalog) can be used without an account, with data stored only on the device.
Opinions and complaints regarding our handling of personal information in the App are accepted at the contact point in Section 1 above.
We may change the content of this Policy as necessary. Except for changes that require user consent under applicable law, a revised Policy takes effect upon being posted within the App. We will notify users within the App of any material changes.
For inquiries regarding this Policy, please contact us using the details in Section 1 above.
